Husband and wife duo, Ricky and Hannah, founded Mean Training in 2019 to help their community on Oahu become healthier and more productive through the design, development, and integration of fitness programs.
Mean Training believes in a holistic approach to fitness, teaching clients that wellness is not confined just to the physical component, but encompasses emotional, social and mental health as well. Mean Training is passionate about building programs that emphasize empowerment, celebrating the small victories and the importance of foundational movement patterns.
As firsthand believers of the transformational power of fitness, the Mean Training team strives to live a life that prioritizes their health and empowers others to Be Kind. Train Mean.
About Us
The Mean Team
Ricky’s love for fitness and training began in high school as a football player. He decided to grow his passion for fitness by pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science at Azusa Pacific University, while working as an athletic trainer, football coach and personal trainer.
Ricky has over 9 years of personal training and coaching experience, with his #1 goal being to help as many people as he can to live healthier, happier and fuller lives. His training philosophy is based upon the idea of consistency over time, with discipline and hard work outweighing momentary motivation. Ricky has experience working with all individuals of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds, and believes there is a fitness option for everyone.
Ricky has his B.S. in Applied Exercise Science (AES), is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), and is currently studying to become a NASM Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES).
Fun Facts: Ricky has had 4 knee surgeries and was told he’d never be able to run comfortably again. He has since completed 2 marathons, 1 ultramarathon, an olympic triathalon and 1 full Ironman. He is a twin. He is an outdoor enthusiast and if he wasn’t married and running his own business, he would likely be a smoke-jumper somewhere in Montana. Cause why not, right?

Hannah’s fitness journey began after moving back home to Oahu after college. As a former dancer and cheerleader, Hannah sought fitness to fill a void in her life and to return to regular physical activity. Weight training and fitness radically changed her life and sparked a desire to help others experience the same transformational power of fitness.
Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, Hannah knew that she wanted to use her education to start her own business and serve her community through it. Hannah has a special passion for cooking and creating healthy meals that actually taste good, and through it has launched Mean Training’s nutrition coaching services. Hannah has 5 years of personal training and coaching experience.
Hannah has her B.A. in Business Management and is an ISSA Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC) and ISSA Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). She is also an United States Powerlifting Association Certified Official.
Fun Facts: Hannah is under 5 feet and a 48kg drug-tested powerlifter. She holds the Hawai’i state records for squat, bench and total. Her dream is to own a homestead and a pack of dogs. She’s passionate about teaching women how to lift weights. Her love language is cooking for others.
